Of course, you can do it. We already implemented a model of a quad rotor helicopter running in Webots. See this video.

where can I get this model from Webots? Or I must build all from basic? Can you give me a simple direction to make that quad rotor?

This model is currently under development. We may give you a snapshot of our development version but please keep in mind this is unfinished work, lacks documentation and comes "as is", i.e., without user support. I'll send it to you in a private e-mail.

Dear Olivier,

I think, it needs airrobot_physics.dll to run the model. Where can i find the file?

When run the file 'airrobot.wbt', the console message is like this

Error while loading required plugin: "airrobot_physics"
..rhea\plugins\physics\airrobot_physics\airrobot_physics.dll: file does not exist.

Dear Jea-Uk,

This airrobot_physics.dll has to be compiled by yourself. You can do it by opening the source file in the Webots text editor:
and compile it by pressing the "Build" button. This should build the missing airrobot_physics.dll file and the simulation should work fine.

I can't compile this file ,I download,and extract this in my desktop.
and then open: worlds\airrobot.wbt
there is the same error with Jea-Uk ,then I try to rebuild the airrobot_physics.cpp ,
but there is an error such as this :
"mingw32-make airrobot_physics.dll
makefile:37: H:/Program Files/Webots/resources/projects/default/plugins/physics/Makefile.include: No such file or directory "

can u help me?

Which Webots version are you using (this is written in the top bar of the main window) ?
The file Makefile.include used to be stored in another location in older Webots distributions, I recommend you to use the latest Webots version 6.4.4, thanks.

Hi Mohammad,

Yes, I think that this problem is not too nasty.
It's only the location of the Makefile.include that has unfortunately changed across Webots version.
Here is how to solve this: In your project open this file:


In this file the last line should look like this:

include $(WEBOTS_HOME_PATH)/resources/projects/default/plugins/physics/Makefile.include

change it to this:

include $(WEBOTS_HOME_PATH)/resources/plugins/physics/Makefile.include

This should fix the problem ... otherwise please tell me.
Note that this plugin is used only to draw the drone's trajectory and the field coverage, nothing more.

Hello! sorry to relive this old topic, but I am looking for a quad rotor model as well and my searches got to this. would it be possible for me to get the quadcopter model too?

attached you can find the model of an hexacopter that can be easily adapted to a quadrotor.
This model comes from an old project and it doesn't use a simulation of fluid dynamics for making it moving but it is simply moved using a Supervisor controller.
As already explained above, this model comes as-it-is, without documentation nor user support.

Please note that since version 7.3.0, Webots includes a Propeller node that could be used to model the quadrotor.
I would suggest to look at the sample world samples/devices/propeller.wbt for an example of the use of this node.

Quad-rotor robots should work in Webots. You can build such a model by assembling four Properller nodes in a robot and controlling them. Please let me know if you encounter any problem while doing this.
