Difference between Webots PRO and Webots EDU

Webots comes with two different flavors:

• Webots PRO is more powerful and intended for research use.
• Webots EDU is less powerful but cheaper and intended for educational use.

The following table summarizes the technical difference between Webots PRO and Webots EDU:

Webots licenses require an Internet connection to work. However, an optional Webots USB dongle allows you to use Webots without an Internet connection.

Internet floating licenses

Starting from Webots 7, all licenses are provided as Internet floating licenses. Therefore an Internet connection is necessary to run Webots. However, it is possible to run Webots without an Internet connection if you purchase a Webots USB dongle and transfer your license from the Internet floating license server to the USB dongle. Then, the license can be easily moved to any computer and used without an Internet connection. Once on the USB dongle, the license may be returned back to the Internet floating license server at anytime and transferred again to the USB dongle later on, etc.
