Webots

The Robotstadium competition is
now over (restarting this fall). 15 teams have participated
in this competition, 8 were selected for the finals in RoboCup'08 and the results is the
victory
(120 MB movie) of CMRoboKids (Carnegie Mellon University, USA) after an
incredible match versus Bothari (Europe). CMRoboKids wins a Webots PRO + URBI pack
and a Nao
robot. |

A
new release of Webots is available for download
on our web site.
This new version adds native Python support as well as a new C++
object-oriented programming interface for programming
robots. It also features a number of improvements in the
BotStudio graphical programming system and fixes a number of bugs. The

Rat's Life

Bio-inspired
flying robots

As anticipated, the
Rat's
Life competition ended with the victory of
Ratatouille: a SLAM-enabled
robot whose author received a Webots PRO
pack.
However, the transfer to the real world was not very straightforward
and another contestant, named Ratchou won the real worlds final and
received an e-puck
robot (see movies).
41 teams have been actively participating in this contest so far. The
next edition will be starting this fall.

Rat's Life
presentation at PerMIS'08

The
results of the Rat's
Life competition will be presented on August 19th 2008 at the PerMIS'08
(Performance Metrics for Intelligent Systems) workshop in Washington,
during a special session on Cognitive Systems of EU Cognition
Programme. This series of workshops organized by the NIST aims at defining measures and
methodologies of evaluating performance of intelligent systems.
