Webots 7.03 released! We just released a new version of Webots 7. This new version fixes a number of bugs and introduces a few new minor features, including improvements to the dock windows and new buttons to easily make screenshots and movies. The complete change log is available here. You can download this new version of Webots from the usual place. Static balance test in Webots 7 Since Webots 7, it is possible to display the support polygon and projection of the center of mass for any robot (from the View / Optional Rendering menu of Webots). The projection on the floor of the center of mass of a robot has to lie within the support polygon to satisfy the static balance test. If the test is fulfilled, the robot is in a steady position. Otherwise, it may either fall down unless it is actively managing a dynamic balance motion (like dynamic walking). This tool is very useful when developing walking motion for legged robots. The support polygon appears in green when the test is fulfilled and in red otherwise. A video showing this static balance test is available here. Can you survive the Cyber Savannah? The Cyber Savannah is a robot programming competition taking place in a nature-inspired artificial eco-system with uneven terrain, natural textures, changing light conditions and a balanced energy cycle. The robots in your team will have to eat, mate and possibly die. The competition based on Webots will reward the best entry with a prize of £500. The deadline for submitting your robot controller is February 1st, 2013. 1000 Webots customers Cyberbotics just reached the milestone of 1000 Webots paying customers. This is a great reward for us to now count more than 1000 customers in our data base of Webots licenses.
