Chapter 2: Getting Started with Webots

To create a new simulation with with Webots, you need two things:

  1. Define a 3D virtual world containing one or more 3D virtual robots, saved as a .wbt file.

  2. Write C, C++ or Java programs to control each robot, and optionally, a supervisor program to control the simulation.

This chapter gives an overview of Webots GUI, including the main window and the Scene Tree editor. The principles of controller programming are explained in detail in chapter 5.
